Langøy succeeds Kjell Inge Røkke as board chairman. Røkke will continue as a regular board member until the company`s annual shareholders` meeting on 30 March 2006.

`By resigning this office, I will free up time that can be devoted to new and exciting projects for Aker. We have already seen that some of them have considerable potential for value creation,` says Kjell Inge Røkke.

`The way I see it, it clearly benefits the shareholder community, Aker, and Group employees that I continue to do what I believe I do best: adding focused energy and creativity to select projects,` Røkke continues.

The change in board chairman is one of several changes in the Aker Group team announced today, along with the recommendations for new board members by the nomination committees of listed Aker companies.

Today, it was also announced that Aker`s current Executive Vice President Martinus Brandal will succeed Inge K. Hansen as Aker Kværner President and CEO as of 1 July this year. Hansen will continue to work for the Aker Group as project creator and driver, working closely with Aker Group management.

`The Group`s positive development shows that we have come a long way in a brief time span,` says Aker Chairman and CEO Leif-Arne Langøy. `With team members in place in new positions, we will create energy and drive Aker to new performance records.`
