Dry well on Mantra
Det norske oljeselskap announces that the 31/3-4 exploration well on the Mantra prospect offshore Norway has encountered reservoir quality sands but all intervals were water wet. Det norske is partner in the 551 license with a 20 percent interest.
The 31/3-4 wildcat was the first exploration well in the licence. The well was targeting the Upper Jurassic Sognefjord Formation reservoir as the main target, with additional prospectivity in Paleocene Lista sands and Middle Jurassic Brent Group.
The semi-submersible drilling rig Transocean Barents drilled 31/3-4 to a vertical depth of approximately 2,082 meters subsea. It was terminated in the Middle Jurassic Brent Group.
The well, located approximately ten kilometers north of the Troll C platform in the North Sea, will now be logged before being plugged and abandoned.
Tullow Oil PLC is the operator of the license with 80 percent ownership interest.
