Preliminary results from the Liatårnet appraisal well

Report this content

Aker BP has concluded the drilling of appraisal well 25/2-22S on the Liatårnet discovery in licence 442 in the North Sea. The well encountered lower volumes of hydrocarbons than expected. Pending further analysis, the preliminary results indicate that a downward adjustment of the resource estimate for the discovery is likely.

Liatårnet was discovered in 2019 and was considered as a potential resource addition to the NOAKA development, however not included in the NOAKA resource base. The results of this appraisal well will not impact the NOAKA development project. Furthermore, the results from this well do not impact Aker BP’s exploration strategy in the area.

More details on the drilling results can be found in a press release from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate which is available at https://www.npd.no/en/facts/news/Exploration-drilling-results/
