Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes to Restructure Arnhem, the Netherlands, July 1, 2004 - Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes has announced a major restructuring plan in order to improve its performance. The focus will be on realigning the business with changing market conditions. The proposed measures, which will be carried out during 2004-2006, involve the reduction of an equivalent of approximately 600 full-time jobs, or 10% of the global workforce. Most regions of the world will be affected. Discussions with all relevant parties about the restructuring plans have started. By using socially responsible methods, Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes intends to limit forced redundancies as much as possible.
