Alelion strengthens team with Head of Product to pivot towards strategic objectives

Alelion recruits Magnus Baeckström for the role as Head of Product, responsible for driving the development of Alelion’s product portfolio to meet future customer demands.

Alelion develops and produces high-voltage battery solutions for the niche segment heavy-duty vehicles, which operate in ports, airports, construction sites, and other demanding operating environments. At present, only about two percent of the off-highway fleet is electrified annually, which suggests the potential of rapid and steep growth in demand for years to come.

- I want to strengthen Alelion's role as the go-to discussion partner with regard to next generation batteries, systems and business models for electrification, says Magnus Baeckström, incoming Head of Product.

The new Head of Product will be given a central role, serving as intermediate between Alelion's technical organization and sales and marketing – which calls for an ability to weigh business opportunities against their technical complexity and cost.

- Magnus brings extensive product management experience to Alelion, a domain where it is key to anticipate and meet customer needs and at the same time prioritize requirements and plan our development efforts accordingly, says Åsa Nordström, CEO of Alelion. We are now centering matters relating to future products and updates of existing products.

Magnus Baeckström's most recent position was as Business Unit Director at ASSA ABLOY. There, he turned a business unit to positive results by fostering a strong team culture and taking focused action throughout the value chain.

- In my experience, Alelion offers just the entrepreneurial environment I strive for, a spirit that derives from internal motivation and makes everyone pitch in together.

- In addition, Alelion has made the smart choice of focusing on special vehicles, a niche in which there is customer demand for Alelion's expertise on electrification of vehicles operating in harsh industrial environments, where performance requirements are completely different from the automotive industry and where there is also a strong interest in developing new business models to optimize the investment in electrified platforms.

Magnus Baeckström will take position as Head of Product at Alelion in August.
