Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has received an order for Alfa Laval Packinox custom-designed heat exchangers from Dragon Aromatics in China. The total order value is about SEK 130 million and delivery is scheduled for 2008.

The equipment will be used in the catalytic processing sections in the manufacture of mixed xylenes which are key raw materials for various petrochemical end products such as polyester fibers and PET plastic bottles.

Lars Renström, CEO of the Alfa Laval Group, comments on the market situation in China: “We experience a continued strong demand in China, despite the government’s initiatives to slow down the growth pace.”

The project, called PX, is operated by Dragon Aromatics (Xiamen) Company Limited. It will integrate an 800,000 t/a PX (p-xylene) unit and matching facilities such as thermal power plants, a liquid chemical wharf and a transport storage site. The project will be built in the Haicang Investment Zone, Xiamen, in the Fujian province, China.
