Alfa Laval launch a completely new category of compact heat exchangers Alfa Laval, a world leader in centrifugal separation, heat transfer and fluid handling, launched today a completely new category of compact heat exchangers, named AlfaNova(TM). "As market leader in the compact heat exchanger market, we are constantly developing the technology and its advantages. Important driving forces in our technology development must meet industry's needs of high pressures and temperatures and minimized corrosion and fatigue. With the introduction of the AlfaNova we create a new category of compact heat exchangers. It's an important step towards our goal to continue to take market shares from the traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers," says Mr. Sigge Haraldsson, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. The new category of compact heat exchangers, the AlfaNova, is a new type of brazed plate heat exchanger. It is based on Alfa Laval's patented method of brazing the plates, called AlfaFusion(TM). The big advantage of this innovation is that the heat exchanger can be made of stainless steel throughout. This makes AlfaNova suitable for many industrial applications where in the past the plate heat exchanger has not been an alternative. The solid stainless steel design provides a clean and hygienic heat transfer channel for sanitary applications, guarantees high corrosion resistance and copes with temperatures as high as 550oC. Mr. Haraldsson continues, "The performance of AlfaNova opens new and interesting opportunities. It is the perfect solution for instance for ammonia chiller systems and for district heating applications. Its excellent fatigue properties open up for many new markets in the mechanical industry". Editor's notes: Alfa Laval is a leading global provider of specialized products and engineering solutions based on its key technologies of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling.
