Alfa Laval provides heat exchangers to Kuwait for cleaning crude oil

Alfa Laval - a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling - has received an order of approximately SEK 100 million for plate heat exchangers and utilities from Korean contractor SK Engineering & Construction (SKEC). Delivery of the equipment is planned for 2007.

The end customer, Kuwait Oil Company, a subsidiary of Kuwait National Petroleum Company, will use the equipment in a process for desalting crude oil in gathering centers. Crude oil pumped out of the ground contains elements of sand, minerals and salt. In order to remove parts of these elements, wash water is added to the oil, which is then heated by means of plate heat exchangers. This facilitates the removal of salt and water. By further using plate heat exchangers in desalting of crude oil, heat can be recovered for re-use in the process. About SK Engineering & Construction SKEC was founded in the mid-1970s and quickly made its first advancements into the Middle East. Since then, the company has evolved into Korea's leader in the engineering and construction industries. Today, SKEC works on major construction and building projects all over the world. The company continues to raise the bar as a world-class competitor in plant, civil, building and housing works. www.skec.co.kr For more information, please visit the Alfa Laval website at www.alfalaval.com.
