Alfa Laval wins another refinery order in Russia

Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has received an order for spiral heat exchangers from a refinery in Russia. The order value is about SEK 65 million and delivery is scheduled for 2010.

The Alfa Laval spiral heat exchangers will be used in the refinery process where the viscosity of the heavy oil is reduced in order to achieve lighter products, such as heating oil and diesel. The Alfa Laval spiral heat exchangers are more resistant to fouling than the competing shell and tube technology, thereby prolonging the operating plant lifetime and reducing the shutdowns for maintenance and service. “We have a strong position in the Russian refinery market, where 28 out of the 30 refineries are customers to Alfa Laval”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “Our complete range of efficient products plays an increasingly important role in the modernization of the Russian refineries.” Did you know that … Russia is the second biggest oil producer in the world and that the majority of the Russian refineries, built during the Soviet era, are in need of or under modernization?
