Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has received an order for a complete solution to a vegetable oil plant in India. The order value is about SEK 50 million and delivery is scheduled for 2011.

The project is India’s first complete, integrated edible oil complex, for refining different types of crude oils – i.e. from sunflower and soya bean – into high quality oils. The order includes Alfa Laval’s separators, mixers and heat exchangers.

“India has recently become Alfa Laval’s third largest market after the US and China”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “This order confirms the good development we have seen in the country, not the least in the food and vegetable oil industry driven by increased living standard.”

Did you know… that the world-wide consumption of vegetable oil has grown at an average annual rate of 4.2 percent over the past decade? The growth in India and other fast growing countries has been driven by increased living standards and a growing population.
