Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has received an order for a complete fats modification plant in Russia. The order value is about SEK 60 million and is to be delivered in 2007. This is the third large vegetable oil order for Alfa Laval this year from Russia and the Ukraine. These have a combined value of about SEK 210 million.

“During the year, we have noticed an increased interest in investing in vegetable oil refineries and it is obvious that the increasingly high standard of living in Russia and other countries has resulted in a general demand for new and healthier products,” says Lars Renström, CEO of Alfa Laval.

The refinery will be owned and operated by JSC Rumaco in the city of Serpukhov in the Moscow region. The plant is based on Alfa Laval's new complete product package for modifying vegetable oils. The order includes a service agreement.

Refined products
Vegetable oil refining and modification is gaining importance as a key contributor in modern food formulation, to meet the highest quality and latest health standards, including minimizing trans-fatty acid content.

Processing oils and fats also makes it possible to have a large range of products that is ready for use in various food industries. It also ensures quality retention during storage and transport to final application.
