Waldemar Schmidt, member of the Alfa Laval Board, awarded The Order of the Polar Star

During a ceremony yesterday at the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen Waldemar Schmidt received the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Officer First Class, from H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf.

The Order of the Polar Star was introduced by the Swedish King Fredrik I in 1748 as a reward for ”civic merits, for devotion to duty, to science, literary, learned and useful works and for new and beneficial institutions”. Since 1975 the Order of the Polar Star is presented only to members of the Swedish Royal Court and to foreign nationals or stateless persons, for contributions that benefit Sweden or Swedish interests. In 2000 Waldemar Schmidt received the Danish order ”Chivalry of Dannebrog” from H.M. Queen Margrethe of Denmark. About Waldemar Schmidt Member of the Alfa Laval Group Board since 2000. Born: 1940 Former President and CEO of the ISS Group, where he worked for nearly 30 years. Chairman of the Board of Superfos Industries A/S and Thrane & Thrane A/S. Vice Chairman of Majid Al Futtaim Group LLC, Dubai. Member of the Board of Epodis plc, Group4Securicor plc, Welzorg Group b.v., Cicor S/A and in Industri Kapital Fund Boards. He published the book ”Winning At Service – Lessons from Service” in 2003 and was co-writer of the book ”Norby Committee’s Report on Corporate Governance in Denmark”.
