Alight has commissioned a 1.9 MWp behind-the-meter (BtM) rooftop solar installation at ITP Aero’s site in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, supplying the facility with renewable electricity under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).

The rooftop solar project at ITP Aero, a global aerospace propulsion leader, is part of Alight’s expanding UK portfolio of more than 50 MWp for commercial and industrial customers. The solar asset at the Hucknall plant is now fully operational and delivering clean power directly to the site, strengthening ITP Aero’s decarbonisation efforts and long-term energy strategy.

Under the on-site PPA, the installation supplies power directly to the plant, producing around 1,600 MWh of renewable electricity annually and avoiding approximately 310,000 kg of CO2 emissions per year.

Alight has built, operates and owns the installation, with the electricity produced and consumed on site at the Hucknall facility. The PPA enables ITP Aero to secure a predictable, competitive power price and enhance its long-term energy security, while reducing exposure to wholesale market volatility.

“Expanding in the UK is a strategic priority for Alight, and this project with ITP Aero is a great example of how our PPA and behind-the-meter model can help energy-intensive industries cut costs and carbon at the same time,” says Rob Stait, Alight BtM Managing Director at Alight.

ITP Aero’s Hucknall plant is a key hub for the global aerospace industry, specialising in fabrications, combustors and fan outlet guide vanes, supplying manufacturers like Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney. By transforming its roof into a power source, ITP Aero is supporting its group-wide target of a 65% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

“Decarbonising our operations is central to ITP Aero’s long-term strategy, and this rooftop solar project at Hucknall is an important milestone on that journey,” says Ian Williamson, Managing Director at ITP Aero UK.

The project is financed through Alight’s £34 million UK BtM portfolio facility from bank SEB, reinforcing the company’s ability to deliver multiple large on-site solar assets across the country. With the Hucknall installation now in operation, Alight is deepening its commitment to the UK market and helping industrial businesses access reliable, competitively priced renewable power.
