Alight announces Warren Campbell as new CEO
Stockholm, December 6, 2024 — Warren Campbell is appointed the new CEO of Alight, a leading solar developer and independent power producer. He succeeds company co-founder Harald Överholm, who will continue to work full time for Alight as Chairman of the Board.
Campbell has been Alight’s Deputy CEO for the past year. He joined as Chief Operations Officer in 2020. Campbell has led the scale-up and international expansion of Alight while growing the pipeline of projects under development to 3.5 GW and entering new markets across Europe, establishing projects and offices in Finland, Spain, France and the UK.
Överholm co-founded Alight in 2013 and has been CEO since 2018. Over that period, Alight commissioned Sweden’s first utility-scale solar park through a PPA with Swedbank, paving the way for the exponential growth of solar power in the Nordics, and secured a €150 million investment from CVC DIF, a leading global investment manager.
With 25 years in the energy sector, Campbell brings a wealth of experience of building, scaling and managing businesses. Prior to joining Alight, Campbell was a partner in McKinsey’s global energy practice, served on the board of directors and as investor to high growth companies, as well as founded and was CEO of bioenergy company Vireo Energy.
Chairman and former CEO Harald Överholm: “I co-founded Alight over a decade ago, and I am very proud of the team and company we have built. Our core purpose remains to be a leading force in the transition to renewable energy for large corporate power users. As the intensity of our growth journey keeps increasing, this is a good time to focus the roles of Chairman and CEO. Warren is an excellent leader to take on the executive responsibility and I’m very pleased that he has accepted the role. I want to thank my colleagues, our customers and investors for their partnership and trust during my time as CEO.”
New Alight CEO Warren Campbell: “I am honored and excited to now take over the reins as CEO of Alight in a phase of unprecedented growth. We are bringing multiple projects into operation, our development pipeline across Europe is expanding rapidly and we are exploring a number of interesting partnering and acquisition opportunities that will further extend our leadership in core markets. With strong backing from our lead investor CVC DIF, and a fantastic team in place, I am very positive about the journey ahead. I have enjoyed working closely with Harald over the last 5 years and look forward to continuing to do so in our new roles.”
CVC DIF Partner and Head of Value Creation Angela Roshier: “We’re proud to be backing Alight's journey as majority investors. Harald has been instrumental in shaping Alight’s pole position and success as an independent power producer. His vision and leadership have laid a strong foundation for the company's future, and we are glad to continue working together with him as an active Chairman. Warren has done an excellent job as Deputy CEO, and we see this as a natural focusing of roles as the company matures. We look forward to continuing to support Alight in its mission to drive PPA-backed solar at scale.”

About Alight
At Alight, we’re on a mission to kick carbon off the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses switch to solar. We develop, own and operate onsite and offsite solar projects across Europe and sell the clean energy to businesses at a low, fixed cost backed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), always independent of government funding or subsidies. By 2030, we aim to have an installed capacity of at least 5 GW, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
