Allgon awarded USD 13 million GSM contract Allgon, a leading supplier of radio-based infrastructure solutions for cellular communications, has signed a USD 13 million general agreement with a global mobile operator. According to the USD 13 million agreement, Allgon will provide base station antennas for use in GSM networks in North America. "This is a very prestigious order for us, which also increases our market share in North America", said Jeff Bork, CEO of Allgon. Many US mobile operators are in the process of replacing their TDMA- based cellular networks with GSM, which is the predominant global cellular system technology. The shift from TDMA- to GSM-based networks faciliates the launch of GPRS technology (2,5G), which permits use of new mobile data services. Given Allgon's strong position in North America and the technology shift, Allgon has the potential to be awarded similar contracts in the future. "Allgon's leading competence in base station technology in combination with Allgon's strong position in the North American cellular market gives us the position to continue to increase our market share", continued Jeff Bork.
