Allgon develops new 3G amplifier Allgon Systems, the worldwide supplier of infrastructure for cellular communications, will develop a new Multi Carrier Power Amplifier (MCPA) for use in base stations in the third generation cellular networks. The MCPA is an advanced key component in 3G base stations, with the primary function to amplify signals before transmission to cellular subscribers. For Allgon Systems, the new MCPA is more than just a product. - There is a great market potential in the MCPA itself, which can be used in existing- and 3G networks. The MCPA is only one of a number of leading edge 3G solutions from Allgon and it enhance our position as a 3G partner to network operators and systems suppliers, says Lars Jehrlander, President of Allgon Systems. Allgon Systems' new MCPA is designed for 3G base stations. However, the MCPA can also provide system suppliers and network operators with a cost effective coverage solution in existing systems, since the MCPA enables existing base stations to be smaller and more flexible, and also increase the range. For example, a MCPA can be used to convert a small and low effect city cell base station to a more powerful base station used in larger rural cells.
