Allgon Mobile Communications (AMC) lays off 100 employees Allgon´s Business Area, AMC, supplier of antennas for mobile phone manufacturers, announces its intention to lay off 100 employees at the Åkersberga plant. The main reason for this cut is considerably downsized customer forecasts. - Since, after Christmas, a clear trend-change has occurred. Our customer forecasts have been downsized to a considerably lower level, says Björn Berndtsson, President of AMC. In total, 68 blue-collar employees will be given notice. 25 of these will leave as soon as possible and 43 will continue their work until mid August 2001. Besides, 32 white-collar employees will also be given notice. In total, just over 1 300 persons work within the Allgon Group. - We have to accomplish this reduction in order to secure the Company´s long term development. The good thing is that most of the employees concerned are young and have a good education. The job market situation, in the northern part of the Stockholm area, will hopefully make it possible for everyone to find a new job, says Björn Berndtsson.
