GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – October 24, 2012 – The international Alliance AutoGas network continues its rapid expansion, adding new fueling partner Crystal Flash to help more fleets run on propane autogas. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Crystal Flash is the first Alliance partner based in Michigan, the heart of America’s automotive industry.

“Fleets are looking for affordable alternative fuel options now more than ever, so it was important to us to partner with Alliance AutoGas to get Michigan fleets running on clean, affordable, American-made autogas,” says Crystal Flash President Tom Fehsenfeld. “The Alliance network is growing to meet the needs of fleets wanting to cut fuel costs with a domestic clean fuel, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

As an Alliance AutoGas partner, Crystal Flash brings Michigan a complete program to help regional fleets switch to propane autogas, including vehicle conversions, clean fueling, autogas fuel station installation, safety and operational training and ongoing technical support.

Propane autogas is the most viable alternative fuel for fleets because it costs less per gallon than gasoline and, unlike natural gas and other alternatives, autogas is cost-effective to implement. For example, 15 autogas stations can be installed for the price of just one CNG station. U.S. autogas fleets currently save around $1.50 per gallon on fuel compared to gasoline, and Alliance AutoGas vehicle conversion financing enables fleets to see fuel cost savings from day one.

“Crystal Flash is a welcome addition to the Alliance AutoGas partner network, as they extend our reach to serve more fleets in Michigan,” says Stuart Weidie, president of Alliance AutoGas and founder of Autogas for America. “While state governors lobby Detroit to produce more natural gas vehicles, we’re already helping real fleets—business owners, government agencies, public transportation and more—switch to the most practical vehicle fuel, propane autogas. Like CNG, autogas is clean, abundant, American made and costs less per gallon than gasoline. The main difference is that autogas can be deployed at a fraction of the cost of CNG.”

Beyond experiencing fuel cost savings and emissions reductions, U.S. autogas fleets are doing their part to enhance national energy security because 98 percent of our nation’s autogas supply is made in America. Autogas is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world, powering 18 million vehicles globally.

Crystal Flash has been delivering gasoline, diesel and propane to businesses, farms, municipalities and homes since 1932. Crystal Flash is one of Michigan’s largest family-owned-and-operated fuel companies, with more than 250 employees and offices across the state in Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Gladwin, Greenville, Hillman, Lowell, Marshall, Newaygo, Paw Paw, Schoolcraft and Traverse City, Mich.
