ALLIANZ GLOBAL ASSISTANCE PRESENTS ARTHUR FROMMER’S EUROPE AT EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH EVENT
Leading travel insurer Allianz Global Assistance will proudly help celebrate the launch of Arthur Frommer’s Europe, the latest travel guidebook from the nation’s foremost travel authority and industry legend, Arthur Frommer on Wednesday, November 18.
After 60 years, Arthur Frommer’s Europe returns to the roots of what made the Frommer’s Media franchise famous. Since the 1957 publication of Arthur Frommer's revolutionary Europe on $5 a Day, the Frommer's collection of travel products has published hundreds of thousands of guidebooks as well as the popular Frommers.com Web site.
Joined by his daughter Pauline Frommer, Arthur will be honored by travel industry personalities, media and alumni at an exclusive launch event hosted by Allianz Global Assistance.
“Arthur has long found ways to save Americans money while traveling on vacations far and wide, but now it costs much more than $5 a day to visit Europe; making it more important than ever for travelers to protect their investment with travel insurance,” said Mike Nelson, CEO at Allianz Global Assistance. “With a Frommer’s travel guide in one hand and an Allianz Travel Insurance policy in the other, travelers can explore the world knowing they are backed by the best in the travel industry.”
Arthur Frommer’s Europe is authored by Arthur and a team of Europe-based experts personally selected to deliver reliable and cost-conscious information on Europe’s best destinations; what Frommer’s readers have come to love and expect from the brand. The 800-plus pages mark a milestone in European travel writing. This definitive guidebook contains Arthur’s own insightful (and often controversial) advice, supplemented by the top experts and European specialists of Frommer's staff.
“Travel, far from being a trivial recreation, is an important learning experience that should seek to understand and appraise the different political, cultural and lifestyle attitudes of people throughout the world,” said Arthur Frommer, Co-President of Frommer Media LLC.
The son of a Polish-born mother and an Austrian-born father, Arthur Frommer was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, but was stationed in Europe because of his fluency in German and Russian. During his service, he wrote and self-published a guidebook called The GI's Guide to Traveling in Europe in 1955 that was an immediate hit among soldiers. In 1957, he created a civilian version called Europe on $5 a Day, which became an overnight best seller.
The Frommer family today run Frommer Media and are passionate about keeping this legendary brand at the cutting edge. Pauline and Arthur Frommer co-host the popular Travel Show, heard on radio stations across the country, and write internationally-syndicated columns on travel for King Features.
Arthur Frommer’s Europe is now available for purchase in stores and online.
