ORLANDO AND CANCUN RANK AS TOP SPRING BREAK DESTINATIONS
Allianz Global Assistance Looks at Two Million Customer Bookings to Reveal This Year’s Most Popular Cities for Spring Breakers and Uncovers Whether Secrets will be Safe While Traveling to Las Vegas
A review of travel plans by customers of leading travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance found that Orlando and Cancun are this year’s most popular domestic and international destinations for spring break.
Allianz Global Assistance reviewed more than two million of its customers’ bookings from late February to early April and found that Cancun accounted for 30 percent of trips. Other international destinations ranking in the top 10 were San Juan, Puerto Rico; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Nassau, Bahamas; London, England; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Aruba Island, Aruba; and Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands. Travel to Mexico accounted for more than half (52 percent) of international trips.
Domestically, the review showed that Orlando was the top destination followed by Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Denver, San Francisco, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa.
With Las Vegas being one of the top five spring break destinations, Allianz Global Assistance recently surveyed Americans to find out if “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” The results showed that the famous slogan holds true, with the majority (55 percent) of people reporting that “what happened in Vegas” stayed in the popular spring travel destination.
