Alma Consumer to begin statutory personnel negotiations at Aamulehti
Alma Media Corporation Press release 4 October 2018
ALMA CONSUMER TO BEGIN STATUTORY PERSONNEL NEGOTIATIONS AT AAMULEHTI
The Alma Consumer business unit is to begin statutory personnel negotiations pertaining to Aamulehti’s editorial employees working at Alma Media Kustannus Oy.
The scope of the negotiations is approximately 100 people. Alma Media Kustannus Oy employs approximately 300 persons. According to the preliminary plan, the number of Aamulehti employees may be reduced by a maximum of 17 person-years after the planned actions.
“Despite the challenging market situation, Aamulehti has managed to strengthen its position in the Tampere market area. It has improved its reach, whilst nationwide print advertising has continued its downward slide. Our focusing on local content has produced good results and will remain our area of emphasis even more so down the line“, says Kari Kivelä, Senior Vice President, Alma Consumer.
In the negotiations, the parties will discuss the employer’s plans regarding the rationalisation of operations and the potential impacts these measures will have on the employees. The topics to be discussed include, for example, the reorganisation of operations, changes to job descriptions, transfers to other tasks and retraining measures as possible options for redundancies.
The employees of other units of Alma Media Kustannus Oy and Alma Media Suomi Oy who are part of the Alma Consumer business unit and the employees of the printing and distribution company Alma Manu Oy are not in the scope of the negotiations.
In line with Alma Media’s strategy, the objective of Alma Consumer is to accelerate digital business development in content, services and advertising while also ensuring the revenue development of the printed media.
