Alma Media sells Pohjois-Pohjanmaa local newspapers to Kaleva

ALMA MEDIA SELLS POHJOIS-POHJANMAA LOCAL NEWSPAPERS TO KALEVA 

The local newspapers published by Alma Media in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa will transfer into the ownership of Kaleva’s subsidiary Kaleva365 Oy from the beginning of October 2017. In the transaction, the owners of the Raahen Seutu and Raahelainen papers published in Raahe and the Pyhäjokiseutu paper published in Oulainen will change. The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the transaction. The transaction has no impact on the result of Alma Media Group.  

Raahen Seutu is a local subscription paper published three times a week, Raahelainen is a weekly town paper, and Pyhäjokiseutu is a weekly local subscription paper. The aggregate revenue of the papers in 2016 was EUR 2.6 million. The newspapers’ employees will be transferred to the new owner as old employees. The number of employees of the papers to be sold is 19. 

Kaleva365 Oy is a subsidiary of Kaleva Oy engaged in media business.  

Alma Media Kustannus Oy publishes Alma Media Group’s regional, local and town papers. Its best-known brands are Aamulehti, Satakunnan Kansa and Lapin Kansa.
