ALMA MEDIAPARTNERS ACQUIRES THE B2B AUTOMOTIVE MARKETPLACE TUKKUAUTOT.FI
Alma Media’s subsidiary Alma Mediapartners Oy has acquired tukkuautot.fi, a marketplace for automotive industry professionals, by buying the share capital of Suomen Tukkuautot Oy, the owner of the online service. The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the transaction.
Established in 2016, tukkuautot.fi is a B2B marketplace for used cars. In 2018, the company’s total revenue amounted to approximately MEUR 0.95.
The annual volume of B2B used car sales is estimated to be 100,000–120,000 vehicles (Finnish Central Organisation for Motor Trades and Repairs AKL, 2/2019). In terms of sales volume, tukkuautot.fi is the largest B2B auction platform in its field in Finland. The car sellers that use the service include Finland’s largest car dealerships that represent automakers as well as automotive financing and leasing companies and other companies and public corporations that own large fleets of cars. The buyers are Finnish chains that focus on used cars as well as car dealerships and car repair shops that operate in the field of automotive retail.
“Over the past few years, we have expanded and developed our automotive advertising services aimed at consumers to also include mobility services. We have expanded our automotive media business to include competitive tendering for car servicing and comparisons of vehicle inspection stations. We have also included online automotive retail systems for businesses in our service offering. Tukkuautot.fi strengthens our existing automotive portfolio, enables us to add new functionality between our automotive system products and media products and delivers increased synergies in our sales work,” says Heikki Huttunen, CEO of Alma Mediapartners Oy.
“Companies in the automotive industry have found our platform to a large extent and we have been able to work with our partners to enhance marketing practices in the industry through the use of auctions. We will continue to work in our customer-driven manner. With Alma Mediapartners’ resources and competencies, we will be able to serve our customers even better in the future. Our aim is to increase the flow of customers for car sellers and deliver a better selection to buyers,” says Veli-Tapio Harju, who will stay on as the Managing Director of Suomen Tukkuautot Oy.
