ALMA REGIONS STREAMLINES ITS OPERATIONS AND STARTS STATUTORY PERSONNEL NEGOTIATIONS
Alma Regions, the publisher of Alma Media’s regional and local papers, is planning rationalisation measures related to its operations to ensure the profitability of its business. The anticipated decline in the volume of newspaper advertising that is expected to take place despite the economic growth is the reason for the negotiations that Alma Regions is planning.
The statutory personnel negotiations that Alma Regions is starting with its employees concern all employee groups in the publishing business, excluding the newspaper business of Alma Lappi and the employees of Lännen Media. The printing and distribution company Alma Manu Oy, which is part of the same business unit, is not in the scope of these negotiations.
According to current estimates, implementing the planned measures may lead to a reduction of 35 employees at most. All in all, approximately 360 people are in the scope of these negotiations.
In the negotiations, the parties will discuss the employer’s plans regarding the rationalisation of operations and the potential impacts these measures will have on the employees. The topics to be discussed include, for example, the reorganisation of operations, changes to job descriptions, transfers to other tasks, the consolidation of some operations, service outsourcing and retraining measures as possible options for redundancies.
Alma Media Kustannus Oy, the company publishing Alma Media Group’s regional, local and town papers, is part of the Alma Regions business unit. Its best-known brands are Aamulehti, Satakunnan Kansa and Lapin Kansa. In addition, the printing and distribution company Alma Manu Oy is part of the same business unit.
