Alma Media Corporation Press release 15 December 2023
FINLAND’S AUTO AND TRANSPORT GALA TO COLLABORATE WITH ALMA MEDIA
Alma Media will organise the Auto and Transport Gala 2024 together with the Association of Car and Motoring Journalists of Finland and the Association of Automobile Importers in Finland in December 2024. The purpose of the event is to develop car and traffic journalism and increase interest in road safety. In addition, the event aims to raise public awareness of motoring and traffic as well as to raise the value and appreciation of the motoring and transport sector and those within it.
“We are pleased to be able to further develop this prestigious stakeholder and reward gala with Alma Media. The whole of the Car of the Year award, with its test driving and voting processes, will remain important to the entire automotive industry, Finnish consumers, our membership and all media producing content from the automotive industry," says Kalle Kalaja, Chairman of the Association of Car and Motoring Journalists of Finland.
“The Car of the Year 2024 in Finland Award and the Gala event built around it are highly regarded in the automotive industry. The Association of Automobile Importers in Finland, representing importers authorised by car manufacturers, is pleased that the already 10-year-old Car of the Year in Finland selection and the Gala tradition will continue in 2024 together with Alma. Together with Alma Media and the Association of Automobile Importers in Finland we can make the event even more spectacular and visible”, says Tero Kallio, CEO of the Association of Automobile Importers in Finland.
The Gala Event announces the Car of the Year in Finland 2025
New models that went on sale between the beginning of November of the previous year and the end of October of this year will compete for the title of Car of the Year in Finland. Key selection criteria for the winner of the Car of the Year in Finland title are value for money, car safety, technical progress and driveability. The title has been awarded since 2014.
”It is an honour for us to organise this traditional prestigious event in a significant industry, says Kirsi Koivula, Director, Alma Media Business Events and continues:
"In Alma Media's business, the automotive and vehicles industry plays a significant role and we want to promote the development of the industry in cooperation with different players. Demand and supply meet in our marketplaces in Nettiauto and Autotalli, supported by the Finnish online auction platforms Baana and Tukkuautot. Vehicle trading systems Websales and Nettixpro streamline sales management and trading. Our media such as Iltalehti, Kauppalehti and Talouselämä cover topics related to motoring and the car market. Our services and media reach more than 1,500,000 Finns interested in driving and mobility every week.”
In connection with the event, a decision-making seminar on the current themes of companies' car policy will also be organised for decision-makers in corporate vehicle procurement.
“A survey of the target group of corporate motoring showed that companies are currently talking about propulsion and taxation in particular. This means that during the day there will be both a tight schedule and an entertaining programme, culminating in the announcement of the winner of the Car of the Year in Finland”, says Koivula.
