ABS Stands Out at OTC Houston 2022
After more than two years of virtual and hybrid experiences, the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Houston came back strong on May 2 – 5 with an exciting in-person event. The show floor was bustling. The technical conference was enlightening. The reconnections were welcoming. And through it all, the ABS stand was buzzing with engagements that supported the event’s theme of how technology advancements support offshore energy projects and the energy transition. Over the course of four days at OTC Houston, ABS engaged clients and industry leaders with a full range of activities addressing today’s energy needs, including:
- Seven technical sessions and panel discussions from ABS specialists addressed topics on Sustainability, Offshore Wind and Subsea Mining. See the complete list here.
- Five receptions highlighting new technology and industry partnerships that included the application of 360◦ camera technology on an offshore vessel, signing ceremonies with HHI and Texas A&M University-Qatar, in-stand media event with industry leaders from Chevron, ExxonMobil, Marshall Islands and the U.S. Coast Guard on the aging FPSO fleet, and a joint presentation with Keppel and GustoMSC on the first Jones Act-compliant wind turbine installation vessel to support the rapidly growing market of U.S. offshore wind.
- Four articles addressing sustainability, FPSOs, and OSVs published in Hart Energy, World Oil, Marine Log, and Power & Motion.
- Two groundbreaking reports were issued on safety and sustainability titled Enhancing Safety on FPSOs: Practical Considerations for Operations and Maintenance, and Insights into Future OSV Designs and Operations.
- Two honors presented to ABS employees for outstanding achievements included the OTC 2022 Emerging Leader Award to Dr. Dongchun Mary Qiao, and the OTC 2022 SNAME Best Paper Award to Dr. Wei Huang.
