ABS Leads Mexican Regulatory Body in Discussions Focused on Safety and Evolution of Offshore Industry
ABS recently led a Technical Exchange Workshop entitled “Introduction to Offshore Production Installations” in Mexico City, hosted by ASEA, the Mexican Safety, Energy and Environmental Regulatory Agency (Agencia de Suguridad, Energía y Ambiente). The workshop provided a platform to exchange views on approaches to improve asset and crew safety, and the technological evolution of the offshore industry for deepwater operations and subsea installations, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico.
Luiz Feijo, ABS Director Offshore Production, and Alan Yu, ABS Director Offshore Subsea, facilitated an interactive dialogue from more than 20 participants from ASEA and ABS, addressing key topics including safety requirements and offshore inspections for different types of offshore production concepts including spars, TLPs, and FPSOs.“As a global leading classification society, ABS is pleased to collaborate with ASEA to support our common goals of keeping assets safe, workers safe, and the operators safe offshore, as well as preserving the environment in which they work.” said ABS Director for Offshore Production, Luiz Feijo.
Technical discussions addressed offshore technology, design considerations, technology application, and certification processes of offshore units and subsea infrastructure. It also offered the opportunity to compare aspects of different regulatory regimes in various regions of the world.
