WHAT: Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, Michigan National Guard commander Maj. Gen. Gregory J. Vadnais, American Electric Power (AEP) Executive Vice President & COO Robert Powers, Center for America’s (CFA) Bob Dorigo Jones, Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN) and Corporate America Supports You (CASY) Executive Director Stacy Bayton, and Nashville recording artist Matt Dame kick off the “American Jobs for America’s Heroes” National Guard Jobs Bank Initiative.

NOTE: More to follow this week – “American Jobs for America’s Heroes” kicks off its national initiative in Michigan, followed by events and announcements across the nation. The initiative is powered by an alliance of the National Guard, the non-profit Center for America (CFA), and the non-profit Military Spouses Corporate Career Network (MSCCN) and Corporate America Supports You (CASY) to inspire thousands of small and mid-size companies to commit to register and post jobs on the National Guard job bank website.
*The National Guard has 358,000 active Members who meet monthly at 3,300 armories around the U.S. Members maintain civilian employment while serving. Members, veterans and spouses equal more than 1 million.
*Unemployment among serving Members alone is estimated at 15 percent, or 60,000+. Unemployment in units returned from combat averages between 35-54 percent.
*The solution starts on Saturday, December 10 in Lansing! Speakers and live music begin at 12:30 PM ET.
