DELAWARE HEALTH CARE LEADER RECOGNIZED WITH MEDICAL EXECUTIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

NEW ORLEANS - The American Medical Association (AMA) presented Mark A. Meister, Sr., executive director of the Medical Society of Delaware (MSD), with the 2011 Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award today. Mr. Meister has spent more than thirty years supporting the medical profession through his work at MSD, New Haven County Medical Association, along with other administrative roles with in managed care, hospital administration and quality improvement.

“We are excited to honor Mr. Meister with this award for his outstanding work serving the Medical Society of Delaware and the Delaware medical community,” said AMA Chair Robert M. Wah, M.D. “His high level of commitment to physicians and patients has been an asset to his community and to medicine as a whole.”

Meister is currently working with physicians on the development of a patient centered medical home model and is overseeing MSD’s health care reform initiatives. He is also created three innovative MSD subsidiary organizations: Medical Network Management Services of Delaware, Credentialing Connection and Health Hub.

Meister serves on numerous boards within the Delaware medical community. He has also been honored with several awards from the MSD including the Daniel A. Alvarez, M.D. Distinguished Service Award. Meister received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Liberal Studies degrees from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
