Harrisburg Medical Executive Receives AMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award
CHICAGO – The American Medical Association (AMA) presented Denise E. Zimmerman, executive vice president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) with its Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award today at its semi-annual policy-making meeting.
“We are pleased to present Ms. Zimmerman with this award to honor her outstanding commitment to the medical community of Pennsylvania,” said AMA Board Chair Steven J. Stack, M.D. “With a career spanning more than three decades in organized medicine, Ms. Zimmerman has positively impacted Pennsylvania physicians as they work to provide high-quality care to patients.”
While at PAMED, Ms. Zimmerman has played an important role in leading advocacy efforts for tort reform and defending the health and safety of patients. She also helped to create a specialty leadership cabinet for PAMED which provides state specialty leaders an opportunity to discuss challenges specific to their different fields of medicine and was instrumental in creating a plan to provide voting seats for specialties on PAMED’s Board of Trustees.
Ms. Zimmerman has been involved in the AMA’s Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS), and has supported the OMSS Governing Council on various initiatives including its current strategic plan. She also represents PAMED in the AMA’s Scope of Practice Partnership and works closely with the PAMED AMA delegation.
Ms. Zimmerman graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
