Singer-Songwriter Jewel Supports Breast Reconstruction Awareness with Benefit Concert During Plastic Surgery The Meeting

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – As thousands gather in the Big Easy this week to attend the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) annual conference, Plastic Surgery The Meeting, singer-songwriter Jewel will take to the stage for a charitable concert in support of breast reconstruction awareness on Monday, October 29, 9:30 p.m., at the New Orleans Theater at the Convention Center.
The award-winning recording artist, and national Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day USA spokesperson, will perform her greatest hits along with the song "Flower" she wrote for breast reconstruction patients. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com and all proceeds will benefit national and local breast reconstruction organizations, as well as, the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund of The Plastic Surgery Foundation, which helps fund research and breast cancer care for women who cannot afford it.
"We’re thankful Jewel is performing this benefit concert where for $35 anyone can see great live music and support breast reconstruction care, education and awareness at the same time," said ASPS President Malcolm Z. Roth, MD. "The number of people willing to help close the loop on breast cancer during BRA Day USA on October 17 was truly inspiring and we’re thrilled to continue the education and fundraising efforts in New Orleans."
In addition to the benefit concert and her song, "Flower," Jewel has been advocating for breast reconstruction awareness through media appearances and public service announcement (PSA) videos, since becoming the national spokesperson for BRA Day USA. The PSAs will air over the next two years and will discuss such subjects as why women should know their breast reconstruction options, why a plastic surgeon should be a part of the treatment team, and the significance of the newly-proposed Breast Cancer Patient Education Act legislation.
