American Traffic Solutions Selected for King County Directors’ Association Procurement Contract
Tempe, Arizona, Oct. 4, 2012 — American Traffic Solutions (ATS) today announced that it has been awarded a five year contract with King County Directors’ Association (KCDA) to provide CrossingGuard®, ATS’ school bus stop arm photo enforcement solution to KCDA members. KCDA is a purchasing cooperative that provides centralized procurement services for public school districts in the state of Washington and neighboring states.
CrossingGuard® will provide KCDA members with a new weapon in the fight against illegal stop arm running. When the stop arm is deployed, the CrossingGuard® system automatically detects a vehicle illegally passing the bus in either direction and captures video of the violation and images of a vehicle‘s license plate. The goal of this program is to reduce the number of injuries and/or fatalities related to stop arm violations. It is estimated that each school day, more than 1600 Washington drivers illegally pass an extended school bus stop arm.
