KENT, OH – The Windjammer® Series of compact variable-speed brushless blowers from AMETEK Precision Motion Control (PMC) have been used in high- technology applications for decades, including medical equipment, high-performance business machines, and many others. It’s not surprising that another high-performance industry, professional auto racing, counts on AMETEK’s Windjammer family to provide its drivers with maximum comfort by providing a controlled, cool airstream into their crash helmets.

The AMETEK Windjammer blower has been used by NASCAR Teams, independent racers, and others for over 15 years to keep drivers cool during competitive racing events. Attributes such as high aerodynamic performance, premier reliability, functional controllability, all housed in a lightweight package distinguish the AMETEK blowers, making them the premier solution for winning racing programs.  When queried, Sprint Cup Electrician and independent Oval Dirt Track Racer Taylor Cook stated…

“I am very familiar with these blowers and noticed they are incredibly reliable and well built despite their compact and lightweight design.  I am very impressed by their performance. In my experience working as a race shop electrician, they far exceed the performance of any other blowers of equal size and weight.”

The Windjammer’s various technical features allow its use in many unique high-reliability applications.  A full-wave commutating electronics package enhances its versatility by providing functional performance options, protection features, and increased customization potential.

The blowers are fully programmable so end users do not need to develop their own “hard” control schemes, but can take advantage of an AMETEK multi-wire input for specific operational functions, including closed loop speed control, maximum speed set, electric braking, current limit, over temperature, locked rotor and others.  On-board signal level controllability allows end users to vary the speed (virtually 0 to 100% variation) without any adjustments needed from the main input power supply.

Windjammer blowers are designed to operate at the highest possible aerodynamic efficiencies, lowering their cost of operation and making them better suited for energy efficient or battery operated systems. These units can deliver up to 50 inches (water column) of static pressure and achieve airflow levels of 26 cubic feet per minute. Blower packages sizes vary from 3.0 inches to 5.1 inches, each providing unique aerodynamic operating characteristics allowing for a custom fit.  All units are powered by AMETEK’s industry reliable 1.7-inch brushless 12 or 24 VDC motor, which now features a tachometer output signal as a standard option.

Along with Windjammer® variable-speed brushless blowers, AMETEK PMC brands include MICROjammer®variable-speed brushless blowers; ROTRON®regenerative blowers, transportation blowers, motors, pumps and fans; Haydon Kerk®linear actuators, rails, guides and splines, drives and motors; Nautilair®variable-speed brushless blowers; Pittman®brush and brushless motors, gearboxes, encoders, drives, brakes; and Dunkermotoren™  brush and brushless motors, gearboxes, controllers, linear systems and venetian blind drives.

AMETEK PMC is a division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with 2013 sales of $3.6 billion.  More information is available at www.ametektip.com or by contacting AMETEK Precision Motion Control, 100 East Erie Street, Kent, OH 44240.  Phone: 330-673-3452.  Fax: 330-677-3306.
