SHEFFIELD, UK -- Leading non-contact temperature measurement specialist AMETEK Land will launch its Near Infrared Borescope (NIR-B) 3XR at Asian Nitrogen + Syngas 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia, November 21 to 23, 2016 at Stand 7.

The NIR-B 3XR delivers continuous, high-accuracy reformer tube wall temperature (TWT) measurement, and furnace optimisation and monitoring, allowing temperature point data to be measured, stored and trended over the lifetime of the furnace.

“Asian Nitrogen + Syngas 2016 is one of the major conferences in the industrial gas sector and is ideally located in South East Asia’s nitrogen production hub,” said Thomas Fortinberry, Business Development Manager Industrial Gas for AMETEK Land.

“The NIR-B 3XR is a major innovation in thermal imaging for applications with a high differential temperature in the field of view, such as tube and furnace walls. We look forward to demonstrating its wide range of features and benefits.”

By using NIR-B 3XR, uneven heating due to unbalanced burners or gas mixes can be quickly detected and easily corrected without the need for an operator or technician to be in the hazardous area. A high-resolution image, combined with a wide-angle field of view (90°), allows multiple reformer tubes to be imaged and measured simultaneously. This is critical to extending asset life and maximising efficiency, as a -10°C measurement error over time can result in either 1% lost productivity, while a +10°C error can result in 25% reduction in tube life.

NIR-B 3XR is an invaluable tool for prolonging the life of the reformer tube, optimising production throughput, and reducing energy consumption. Its high-resolution imaging allows users to easily identify hot and cold areas within the furnace. Uneven heating, due to unbalanced burners or gas mixes can be seen clearly, with corrections viewed in real time. During start-up, burners that are not operating correctly can be quickly identified and the effect of impinging flames can be seen.  These are major benefits in terms of optimising performance and reducing downtime.

Now in its 5th year, the Asian Nitrogen + Syngas Exhibition is the premier event for the Asian nitrogen and syngas industries. It attracts producers focused on developing a strategic approach to maximising the value of existing assets, optimising plant operations, and troubleshooting operational problems to ensure safe, reliable and environmentally compliant production.

Along with attending the 2016 conference in Jakarta, AMETEK Land has plans to exhibit at the Nitrogen + Syngas 2017, which will be held from February 27 to March 2, 2017 in London, UK.
