WILMINGTON, MA-- AMETEK Sensors & Fluid Management Systems (SFMS), a leader in sensor technology for a broad range of aircraft engine and airframe applications, has been selected by Aviation Industry Corporation  of China (AVIC) to provide the fuel gauging system and refuel panel for its Modern Ark 700 (MA700) turboprop aircraft.

“AMETEK is proud to be selected for this program. AVIC is a key customer focused on developing commercial aircraft for China’s domestic airliner market and the international market as well,” commented Andy Brandenburg, Vice President and Business Unit Manager for AMETEK SFMS. “With this win, AMETEK’s relationship with AVIC enters a new era. The MA700 program is a significant addition to our portfolio of aircraft fuel gauging projects, and we expect to play a bigger role in this exciting emerging market,” adds Mr. Brandenburg.

AMETEK’s fuel gauging system incorporates the latest aircraft gauging technologies and was selected by AVIC as the sole fuel gauging system provider aboard its advanced MA700 regional turboprop aircraft. The MA 700 is a larger alternative to ATR72 and Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft offered by ATR and Bombardier, respectively. The aircraft features a new propulsion system and will seat 78 passengers at a roomy 81cm (32-inch) pitch when it enters service in 2019.

AVIC Aircraft Company, which specializes in the design and manufacture of commercial aircraft, is part of AVIC Group, a Chinese state-owned aerospace and defense consortium, headquartered in Beijing, China. Design and production of MA700 turboprop will be done at AVIC’s Xi’an Aircraft subsidiary in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China.
