Amferia Signs Major Animal Health Distribution Contract with Interchem (Ireland) Ltd, Expanding into Ireland
Amferia, a Swedish medtech company developing next-generation peptide-based wound care, today announced a strategic distribution partnership with Interchem (Ireland) Ltd, a premier animal health company in Ireland. This collaboration aims to make Amferia’s innovative wound dressings available to Irish veterinary professionals as early as Spring 2026.
The introduction of the AMP Wound Dressing addresses a critical need for advanced wound management and bioburden reduction in both small and large animals. This launch is particularly timely given the escalating global concerns regarding antimicrobial resistance in veterinary care.

“This partnership aligns our innovation with a market leader in a region actively seeking new clinical solutions,” said Saba Atefyekta, Amferia’s Sales & Marketing Director and Co-founder. “Veterinarians across Europe have already shown significant interest in our technology, recognising the potential of our dressings as a vital tool for advanced wound care.”
Amferia has conducted extensive clinical testing throughout Europe, consistently receiving positive feedback from veterinary clinics. This partnership will allow Interchem to enhance its specialised wound care portfolio while significantly expanding Amferia’s European footprint, joining established markets in Scandinavia, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Amferia and to bring their truly unique products to the Irish market,” said Nicola Quirke, Sales Manager at Interchem (Ireland) Ltd. “At Interchem, we are always looking to collaborate with innovative companies whose products offer real-world solutions, and Amferia fits that vision perfectly. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership creates for our customers.”
Amferia technology—inspired by the immune system
Peptides are known for their ability to kill bacteria due to their positive electrostatic charge, which attracts the negatively charged bacteria. This allows peptides to puncture bacterial membranes and destroy the cells. However, their fragility in biological environments has been a major challenge to developing peptides as a viable treatment. Naturally occurring enzymes in the human or animal body can destroy them within seconds.
Amferia's patented hydrogel platform addresses this challenge for the first time by encasing the peptides in a solid protective hydrogel. This design shields the vulnerable facets of peptides from natural enzymes while allowing their active structures to remain exposed. The hydrogel is then applied to wounds as solid dressings as an effective tool for wound care.
About Amferia
Amferia's amphiphilic hydrogel disrupts bacteria, even resistant bacteria without harming the body. The material was developed through several years of research in collaboration with Swedish Chalmers University of Technology. The first product from this technology platform is a wound-care dressing for dry-to-low exuding wounds. Amferia has received marketing authorisation in the US under the De Novo classification request and ongoing clinical investigations in Europe.
