Andover Trailers has been described as ‘best in the business’ by aCardiffhaulier after taking delivery of a tandem axle semi-sloping step frame. All four of Falcon Low Loaders’ trailers have been constructed by Andover Trailers.

The trailer has been purpose-built to transport heavy machinery across theUnited Kingdomand will be based at the company’s depot inMarshfield, nearCardiff. The SFSL 30.5 trailer has been specified with a tandem axle to ensure that it can navigate narrow machinery yards.

Peter Pesticcio, owner of Falcon Low Loaders, says: “I bought my first plant trailer from Andover Trailers back in 1986 and have bought nine in total from them. Quite simply, they make the best in the business.

“I am passionate when it comes to heavy haulage, so I need to work with a company that shares my passion. There is no substitute for Andover Trailers in this sense and their ability to build a bespoke trailer is unmatched.”

Featuring a low profile neck with semi-sloping frame and beavertail, the trailer specification includes Gigant drum brake axles with air suspension and manual raise/lower control valves. The trailer also offers Knorr-Bremse EBS and 1.2m wide power toe ramps with access toes. A Ramsey DC34.9 electric winch with remote and radio control is fitted to ease the loading and unloading of machines.

Pesticcio adds: “Like all our trailers, we’ve also specified slide-out rear safety lights which are vital to protect our drivers and other road users at night, when operating with the ramps down.

“These additional safety features also help when we look to sell these trailers on. Coupled withAndover’s reputation in the marketplace, it ensures residual values remain high – and we work our trailers very hard!”

Falcon Low Loaders is one ofCardiff’s largest heavy machinery hauliers and has a long-standing relationship with Andover Trailers, currently operating four plant trailers purchased in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011.  Falcon originally started in 1969 as a haulier for pit props in the mining industry, but now focuses mainly in moving heavy machinery, particularly paving equipment.

The latest addition to the fleet will operate primarily with a DAF 6x2 mid-lift tractor unit. Both truck and trailer are finished in bright orange paintwork.
