ÅF and TÜV Nord combine forces to create a joint enterprise in nuclear technology and certification The ÅF Group subsidiary ÅF-Kontroll is to collaborate with German TÜV Nord in creating a jointly owned (50/50) company to carry out third- party inspections of nuclear facilities. The new company will be named ÅF-TÜV Nord AB. Work will commence at ÅF-TÜV Nord AB to coordinate activities within the two companies in areas such as the certification of quality and environmental management systems. Cooperation with TÜV Nord will make the ÅF Group's range of inspection and testing services more competitive, not only in Sweden, but also on the international market. TÜV Nord has 4,200 employees and specialises chiefly in technical inspection services for energy production, plant, environment and vehicles, as well as the certification of quality and environmental management systems. The company has an annual turnover of around DEM 750 million. The ÅF Group has 2,500 employees, 150 of whom work for ÅF- Kontroll.
