ÅF-Group and the Swedish National Energy Administration win an international environment award At the United Nations' climate meeting in Bonn on 1 November, the ÅF-Group and the Swedish National Energy Administration were awarded a prize by the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI), a body under the OECD. The prize is for supporting the UN's efforts to improve the climate. CTI works to advance the development of technology that will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The ÅF-Group and the Swedish National Energy Administration have received this award for implementing their programme of environment-adapted energy systems in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe. When the prize was awarded, it was stressed that a great number of projects have helped to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Through ÅF-International, the ÅF-Group has been responsible to the Swedish National Energy Administration for carrying out the projects since 1993. Carbon dioxide emissions have fallen by 350,000 tonnes annually. As a comparison, this corresponds to 0.6 per cent of Sweden's emissions.
