ÅF Group leads management training for energy companies from the Baltic States and Eastern Europe ÅF-International, with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), is undertaking a management training initiative in Malmö, southern Sweden, for energy company executives from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and north-western Russia. The training course will have a total of 28 participants during the period 29 November to 14 December 2000. Training will include modules in areas such as business administration, environmental management, forecasting, pricing for the energy markets and other key management issues. Participants will also be given the opportunity to visit energy companies in southern Sweden. The background behind this initiative is the extensive process of adjustment to a market economy that was introduced during the 1990s both in the Baltic states and in Eastern Europe, a process which also included the energy sector. The planned economies that used to be the norm in that part of the world were responsible for an enormous waste of resources, environmental damage and poor service towards customers. The training programme commences at 09.30 on 29 November at number 3 Stensjögatan in Malmö. Representatives from the media are welcome to attend the start of the course. Please phone +46-(0)40 37 50 00 to advise the ÅF Group's reception in Malmö if you would like to make use of this invitation. In the evening of the same day (at 17.30) Mr Kjell-Arne Landgren, Chairman of the Municipal Council Malmö, will host a reception for the participants at Malmö Town Hall.
