Volvohandeln awards extensive IT projects to ÅF Group The ÅF Group has been entrusted over the next five years with the task of administering and continuing the development work on the TACDIS computer information system devised by and for the Swedish Volvo dealer development company, Volvohandeln. For the ÅF Group, the contract represents more than SEK 60 million in consulting fees. Fifteen ÅF Group consultants in Åmål, south-western Sweden, will be involved in the project with immediate effect and a decision on the further expansion of the project group will be made in consultation with Volvo during the autumn. The project will, in the first instance, be carried out using consulting resources from Åmål and Göteborg. Volvohandeln's Managing Director, Bengt-Åke Andersson, is keen to point out that the ÅF Group already has a strong foothold within the Volvo Group, where it enjoys a very good reputation. 'The ÅF Group can offer a very strong concept based on the fact that the company has IT resources throughout the length and breadth of Sweden. This means that ÅF has been able to tackle the problem of overheated markets for qualified IT staff in the major metropolitan areas in a flexible, cost-effective way.' Lars-Henrik Enlöf, site manager for the ÅF Group in Åmål underlines the fact that the company will be reinforcing its staff over the next year with more system developers, programmers, database administrators and project leaders. There are good prospects for recruiting locally from the university colleges in nearby Karlstad and Trollhättan, and distance- learning programmes in the province of Dalsland itself.
