A Nottingham firm has celebrated its fifth birthday in style, after smashing its sales target for 2015.

Boards Direct, which specialises in visual display products, is closing in on the £3 million turnover mark after seeing a 21% increase in sales in 2015.

The Lenton Lane based company, which launched as a start-up in 2010, has established itself as a market leader, supplying schools, universities and businesses with high quality whiteboards and noticeboards, as well as its own brand of award-winning Casca glass noticeboards which are manufactured in Nottingham.

The company now has its sights set on the US and German markets, with plans to expand into the two countries in 2016.

Paul Pinder, Director at Boards Direct, comments: “We are very pleased with the direction the company is moving in and are delighted with the success we have seen in 2015. This really has been our most successful year to date and has allowed us to further establish Boards Direct as one of the leading UK suppliers of high quality visual display products and a highly successful e-commerce retailer.

“In order to cope with this growth and to take Boards Direct further, we have made two senior appointments in 2015, which has taken our team to a total of 11 and has enabled us to plan our international expansion in 2016.”

David Shaw, Director, comments: “We now plan to capitalise on this growth with an expansion into Germany and the US. Although we have already launched the brand in New York, we are now looking to make further progress in the US by launching the company in key regions, including Baltimore, and the Tri-State region of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, and are looking forward to taking our Nottingham-made Casca noticeboards to an international audience. Based on the growth that we have seen in the first five years, we have the potential to reach a £10 million turnover by our tenth anniversary.”

Boards Direct counts Nottingham Trent University, Fortnum and Mason, Lloyds and Barclays Bank among its clientele, which also includes SMEs and educational establishments across the UK.

The Casca brand specialises in high quality magnetic glass noticeboards, providing a clean finish product in a choice of 25 colours that has been designed to conceal all fixtures.

Only high specification glass is used in the manufacture of the products at the firm’s Nottingham premises and Casca products are the only ones in the sector guaranteed never to fade.

The glass is provided by AGC, Europe’s largest manufacturer of decorative glass, which also ordered Casca products for its new headquarters in Brussels.
