LOOKING TO ITS 'BOARDERS'; BOARDS DIRECT TARGETS US EXPANSION

A Nottingham firm specialising in visual display products has capitalised on its growth by expanding its US operation.

Boards Direct, based on Lenton Lane, has now expanded into a number of key regions in the US, including Baltimore, and the Tri-State region of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, and launched a dedicated US website.

Under the name Board Angels, the company is now taking its Nottingham manufactured Casca noticeboards to a US market, along with its collection of exclusive presentation products, including whiteboards and noticeboards.

Paul Pinder, Director at Boards Direct, comments: “Our expansion in the US is the latest step in Boards Direct’s international journey. Interest in the range and quality of our products from US customers led to us launching a New York office in 2015 and the growth in sales we have seen in the last 12 months has enabled us to expand into a number of new regions, including the Tri-State area. Our product offering in the US echoes our UK offering and includes renowned industry brands, including Mastervision, Quartet, Post-It and Epson, as well as our own award-winning Casca boards from Nottingham.”

Supplying schools, universities, colleges and businesses with high quality visual display products has enabled Boards Direct to become a market leader in the UK, a position it plans to replicate in both the US and Germany.

Its customers include Nottingham Trent University, Fortnum and Mason, and Barclays Bank.

David Shaw, Director at Boards Direct, comments: “Both new and existing clients are impressed with the breadth and quality of our products, which is why we have been so successful within the European market. We’re now gearing up to capitalise on this interest by emulating our US success, with the creation of a new virtual office in Düsseldorf, which will be followed by the launch of a dedicated German website within the next six months.

“This investment has also allowed us to strengthen our relationship with well-known German manufacturer Sigel and we are currently putting plans in place to bring some of their exclusive designs to the UK for the first time.”

The company, which launched as a start-up in 2010, achieved a 21% increase in sales in 2015 and is now on target to reach a turnover of £3 million at the end of its financial year in October.
