PROMOTIONS STRENGTHEN TEAM AT CHARLES BENTLEY & SON LTD
A major Loughborough-based manufacturer is looking to the future after promoting two long-term staff members.
James Bentley (32) and Naomi Steel (34) of Charles Bentley & Son Ltd have strengthened the team at the helm of the Monarch Way firm after being appointed directors.
Naomi, from Loughborough, joined Bentley in 2004 after studying Business Management at Sheffield Hallam University and has now been promoted to Commercial Director after working within the firm’s buying and product sourcing department.
Naomi comments: “Over the years I have worked across the majority of the business’ various departments, including assembly, receipt of goods, reception and buying, so I have gained invaluable experience in many departments.
“I’m now responsible for a number of the legal and commercial entities of the company, including the ever growing claims for intellectual property infringements. The role allows me to become more integrated into the continued development of this family business, while also meeting and responding to the ever growing new challenges of a changing market place. I very much look forward to taking our family business on to the next generation.”
James, who previously held the role of General Manager and lives in Loughborough, comments: “I’m delighted to be taking up the role of director. I started full-time at the company 10 years ago working in the warehouse before becoming projects manager, although as a family business I often helped out when I was younger. My key responsibilities now are centred on the management of operations and I enjoy the variety and flexibility the role provides.
“My first real achievement was relocating the company head office from its previous base at Jubilee Drive and I have since been involved in various key IT and operational projects. Most recently I helped the business gain a £100,000 grant from the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, which we have invested in new brush manufacturing machinery that will allow us to increase our overall production by almost a third.”
Managing Director, Charles Bentley, comments: “We are delighted to see Naomi and James take up their new positions as directors. Both will be instrumental in taking the business forward, particularly during this period of expansion, as we continue to grow and develop our wide range of products.”
