Six figure investment underpins substantial expansion for Priory Direct

Leading eCommerce labels and packaging supplier Priory Direct has invested over £150,000 in a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software systems, to complete its three-pronged expansion strategy. When fully implemented, the company will have expanded its customer offering across the UK and Europe, with developments in three core areas – product choice, despatch efficiency and support services.

The ERP enables Priory Direct to make hundreds more products available through its online store, with a guarantee they are always in stock and despatched same day. Products will be despatched from more locations across Europe, offering increased delivery options. Vastly more efficient backend support - such as quality control, automated accounting, intuitive product suggestion capabilities and self-learning low stock level alerts for customers - serves to make the customer experience easier, faster and more tailored to individual requirements.

Delivering service excellence
Josh Pitman, marketing manager at Priory Direct, comments, “In terms of the customer experience, I believe we’ve always had big company outlook and ambition. We’ve built a strong reputation for excellent value and customer service and this has given us the confidence and financial resource to expand.

“The ERP investment completes a companywide review. We looked at who we are and what we wanted to be. Our aim has always been to bring high service standards to eCommerce despatch, a commodity market,  and we decided overwhelmingly that this is where our expertise is best suited and growth would come from offering increased choice, innovation and efficiency to our customers.”

Environmental benefits
Increasing supply chain efficiency has a beneficial knock-on effect, it’s dramatically reducing the company’s impact on the environment. Better management of stock and despatch requirements mean there are fewer stages in the delivery process - less fuel and energy is used, because stock is moved around less.

Continuous Improvements
Josh concluded, “The strategy to increase our product range and serve more customers required sharp increases in efficiency, the ERP platform makes this possible with room for further expansion when we’re ready. It takes us to the next level, we’re now operating comfortably alongside the biggest companies in our sector, with the capability to continuously improve product choice and service offering, and I think that’s a natural fit for our company culture.”
