Dutch referral clinic de Tweede Lijn takes cooperation further by joining AniCura

AniCura, a European leader in high quality specialised veterinary care for companion animals, acquires De Tweede Lijn referral centre in Wilhelminaoord, Drenthe. For de Tweede Lijn the partnership means access to a comprehensive network of specialised veterinary care providers and support from a large and professional partner, whilst for AniCura the acquisition means a broadening of around-the-clock, advanced veterinary care services for pet owners in the Netherlands and Germany.

De Tweede Lijn was founded by its current Practice Manager, veterinary surgeon drs. Hans Nieuwendijk. The clinic offers specialised veterinary care for referral patients only, both by pre-appointment or in case of emergency.

Drs. Nieuwendijk and his colleagues provide advanced veterinary care services in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery, as well as in oncology, ophthalmology, dentistry and internal medicine. Anaesthesia is a special area of expertise, and drs. Nieuwendijk is a long-standing lecturer in anaesthesia for veterinarians and technicians. The clinic facilities are located in a 500 square metre site which has recently been extended and refurbished and now comprises two fully equipped operating rooms with advanced anaesthetics technology, high-end modalities for diagnostic imaging, including CT (Computed Tomography), and nursing wards for dogs and cats.

─ I am convinced that the type of development of the animal health care industry that AniCura embodies is a gigantic step forward for veterinary medicine. This partnership provides us with a higher perspective, better means for further development and most importantly, wider opportunities for cooperation and sharing of knowledge between veterinarians and clinics across various countries, says drs. Nieuwendijk.

─ We are very pleased to extend a warm welcome to de Tweede Lijn as they join our veterinary family. We look forward to continuing to shape and develop the future of veterinary care together, to the benefit of animals, pet owners and veterinary care professionals alike, says Peter Dahlberg, CEO AniCura.
