Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren Eersel joins AniCura
AniCura, one of Europe's leading providers of high-quality veterinary care for companion animals, acquires Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren Eersel in the Netherlands. The collaboration allows the clinic to develop its veterinary expertise more rapidly and extend it skills network throughout Europe.
Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren was founded 1995 in Eersel, around 5 km from the Belgian border, by veterinarian Maarten Kappen. Today he is practice manager and co-owner together with veterinarian Hanneke van Meeuwen. The clinic, which focuses mainly on dogs, attends 12 000 patients annually and has 18 employees of which six are veterinarians.
The clinic is highly proficient within the areas of orthopaedics, surgery, x-ray, cardiology, ultrasound and artificial insemination. Dr Kappen is well known in the dog breeding community for his skills within arthroscopy, hip replacement and insemination. Dr van Meeuwen’s focus areas are cardiology and ultrasound. Since 2003, she has carried out official echocardiography for the detection of congenital heart defects. In addition, Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren Eersel is one of only two clinics in the Netherlands who are approved for conducting BAER tests in the study of feline and canine deafness.
Patients are referred from throughout the province of Noord-Brabant as well as the remaining parts of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The clinic has been carefully refurbished in stages and has modern equipment including its own laboratory with for example an Immulite for progesterone testing.
