Mars Petcare and AniCura double investments in veterinary research

AniCura’s new owner Mars Petcare has decided to double the size of the AniCura Research Fund, which was established in 2015 to support clinical research in veterinary medicine and improve animal health.

Every year, AniCura’s Research Fund provides funding to clinical research projects of high scientific quality. Since the fund was established in 2015, more than 40 research projects have received funding. Now, AniCura’s new owner Mars Petcare decided to double the size of the AniCura Research Fund.

- Together with AniCura, we share a joint belief that clinical research is paramount to advance veterinary medicine and improve animal health. By funding clinical research projects of high quality, we also provide opportunities for our veterinary professionals to grow and develop, says Alejandro Bernal, President Mars Veterinary Health International.

AniCura’s Scientific Council evaluates applications to the AniCura Research Fund and decides which projects to support. Projects that receive funding should fulfil certain criteria around academic quality, potential for publication in a scientific, peer-reviewed veterinary journal and potential to improve treatment methods.

- We are pleased to receive this significant contribution to the AniCura Research Fund. Veterinary research outside universities often lack financing, and the fund plays an important role in promoting clinical research across Europe, says Anna Tidholm, chairman AniCura’s Scientific Council.

The research projects that will receive funding from AniCura’s Research Fund in 2019 will be announced in June.
