Medisch Centrum Voor Dieren (MCD) in Amsterdam joins AniCura
AniCura, one of Europe’s leading providers of high-quality veterinary care for companion animals, acquires the majority of Medisch Centrum Voor Dieren (MCD) in Amsterdam. The cooperation provides MCD with a strong and experienced partner to support the continued development of its veterinary expertise and veterinary offering.
The Medisch Centrum Voor Dieren, MCD, was founded in Amsterdam in 2010 by nine veterinary specialists and the clinic manager of the emergency clinic. MCD is one of the most renowned and specialized small animal referral clinics in the Netherlands. It comprises a specialist clinic and an emergency clinic and employs a total of 105 veterinary professionals, of which 11 are European specialists (Diplomates) or Dutch specialists. The specialists are referral only, with the sole exception of animals accepted for technical breeding inspection. Each year more than 11 000 patients visit the clinic.
The clinic estate is divided into one emergency department and six individual departments, offering veterinary specialists in radiology, orthopaedics, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dermatology and ophthalmology. AniCura has acquired all departments with the exception of ophthalmology and orthopaedics surgery.
Referrals come mainly from the western part of the Netherlands, Utrecht and Flevoland, while the emergency clinic examines and treats animals from the Amsterdam region, 24/7, seven days a week. More than 300 veterinary practices refer patients to the specialist clinic on a regular basis.
MCD is a state-of-the-art clinic, comprising 1 600 sqm, fully equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and advanced endoscopic equipment. There is also a separate room for chemotherapy. Focus is firmly on development and education, hence MCD is a sought after workplace for veterinary professionals in training.
– We look forward to join AniCura, being part of such an established, international network will provide us with cutting edge knowledge and technology, says Mieke Leistra, veterinarian in charge at the Dermatology department, co-founder of Medisch Centrum Voor Dieren.
– I am pleased to welcome MCD, Medisch Centrum Voor Dieren, to our family of outstanding animal hospitals and clinics. Together we continue to shape the future of veterinary care across Europe, says Peter Dahlberg, CEO AniCura.
