Tierklinik Hollabrunn, a leading veterinary hospital in Austria, joins AniCura
AniCura, a European leader in high quality specialised veterinary care for companion animals, has acquired Tierklinik Hollabrunn in Austria. The acquisition widens AniCura’s geographic remit and provides Tierklinik Hollabrunn with the necessary resources, a professional partner and veterinary network to continue its long and successful growth and development
Tierklinik Hollabrunn was founded by renowned veterinarian and ECVS-Diplomate Dr Günter Schwarz in 1990 and admits more than 10 000 patients each year, of which more than half are referred from clinics and practices all around Austria as well as from Eastern European countries. Open around-the-clock, the animal hospital assumes an important function for the wider community and employs 50 members of staff, of which 20 are veterinarians with considerable expertise and specialisation in surgery and orthopaedics, anaesthesia, internal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology and radiology.
The facilities comprise 1 000 square meters, and plans for a further extension are underway. The animal hospital is well equipped for specialised veterinary care, hosting digital x-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), high-field MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), ultrasound and endoscopy equipment. Surgical treatments include advanced procedures such as abdominal and open chest surgery, minimally invasive surgery and orthopaedic procedures such as cruciate ligament surgery, hip replacements and arthroscopy. Emergency care procedures are carried out by state-of-the-art scientific standards.
As an authority in his field, Dr Günter Schwarz regularly gives lectures and holds seminars for veterinary professionals, not only in Continental Europe but also in many Eastern European countries. Moreover, he has co-edited the widely publicised “Praktikum der Hundeklinik”, which is considered standard reference in the veterinary community.
As part of the ambition to ensure continuous development of quality care at Tierklinik Hollabrunn, Dr Günter Schwarz installed a long-term strategic plan that would see Dr Christoph Peterbauer join the clinic as Managing Director. Dr Christoph Peterbauer, an ECVAA-Diplomate who conducted his specialisation at the Vetsuiss Faculty in Berne in Switzerland and later gained extensive know-how as senior clinician, lecturer and division head at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna will be following Dr Günter Schwarz in the clinic leadership role, while the founder continues to support the clinic as Chief Surgical Advisor.
─ The future of specialised veterinary medicine lies in cooperation between veterinarians and exchange of experience and knowledge within the veterinary community. By joining AniCura we achieve great opportunities for closer collaboration within scientific networks as well as a stable and reliable foundation for continuity and sustainability of Tierklinik Hollabrunn, say Dr Günter Schwarz, founder of Tierklinik Hollabrunn, and Dr Christoph Peterbauer, Managing Director of Tierklinik Hollabrunn, in a joint statement
─ We are delighted to welcome Tierklinik Hollabrunn to our veterinary family of specialised animal hospitals and clinics and are looking forward to support its next stage of development. Together we will continue to shape veterinary care of the future, for the benefit of companion animals and their owners, says Peter Dahlberg, CEO AniCura.
